Families who live within the school district can follow these instructions and register their students online.

Minnesota law covers enrollment of students who are Minnesota residents and wish to enroll in a public school district other than their own. Families living outside the school district who wish to send their students to Delano Public Schools are welcome to apply for open enrollment.

Open Enrollment Application

Non resident families may apply for open enrollment any time, but it is recommended to submit your application before Jan. 15 for the upcoming school year beginning in the fall. 

An open enrollment application must be completed for each student enrolling and the parent/guardian address section must contain an address in the state of Minnesota.

Note--a new application must be filled out any time you have an address change, even if it is within the same district you are open enrolling from.

Open Enrollment Guidelines

• There is no implied guarantee that an application will be approved.
• If we approve your student, we are guaranteeing a space for them in Delano Public Schools until the student graduates from high school.
• If approved, transportation to and from school is available only within district boundaries. You may contact the bus company to arrange a pick-up location if you would prefer not to bring them all the way to the school campus. The number for Stahlke Bus is 763-972-3991.

Delano Public Schools is required to ensure that all school-age children between the ages of 7 and 17 who live within the district's boundaries are being educated.

Registration

The following information is mandatory and must be submitted to this office by Oct. 1 of each year. If complete information is not received, the district must report the Home School as "Not Compliant" in our report to the State of Minnesota.

Initial Registration Form (or other format)
This form is to be completed and submitted by October 1 or within 15 days of withdrawing a child from a public school in order to home school.

Letter of Intent to Continue to Provide Instruction (or other format)
This form is to be completed and submitted by October 1 of each year after the instructor has provided the same district with an Initial Registration Form.
